Marana Town Council issued a proclamation honoring Marana Town Attorney Frank Cassidy on Tuesday, October 20 ahead of his retirement at the end of the month. Cassidy has served the Town of Marana for 17 years.
“Frank Cassidy began his tenure with the Town of Marana in July, 2003, to serve in the capacity of Town Attorney and director of the legal department, a position he grew and held with esteem for 17 years. While Frank made many outstanding contributions to the City of Tucson and Pima County during his legal career, it is the seminal moments of Frank’s career with the Town of Marana that we acknowledge today.
“Frank had a lead role with the team who led the battle to acquire Marana’s wastewater resources from Pima County, having written two pieces of legislation approved by the Governor to give the Town the ability to takeover the wastewater plant. Frank also played a lead role in bringing the Ritz Carlton to Dove Mountain, the Simon Outlets to the Marana Center, and other major infrastructure projects, including land acquisitions to build the Twin Peaks Interchange and the Tangerine Road improvements. Frank’s expertise in land use planning and real estate law brought him wide acclaim and requests for advice from small and large jurisdictions across the state. To add to his list of accomplishments, he was devoted to teaching and was an adjunct instructor in Land Use Planning at the University of Arizona.
“Frank Cassidy is known as a trusted friend, a man of strong faith and integrity, a person with a sometimes wild sense of humor, a Microsoft Word expert, and a calligrapher, but is most often admired for his commitment and dedication to his family, including his wife Renee, children Megan, Brett and Kristin, and their children.
“Frank Cassidy, we do proclaim that you have been an integral part of our organization and our community, and we shall miss the daily interaction with you and your intelligence, sense of humor and quirky personality, strong values and kindness to others as you embark on another journey of great excitement – your retirement with your family -- and your tool box!”
