The Town recognizes the “Imagine a Day Without Water” campaign as critical to highlighting the importance of access to reliable, clean water through the investment in infrastructure to bring water to and from homes and businesses.
The Marana Water staff of 35 – who manage six water systems, 170 miles of water main, 78 miles of sewer main, and one water reclamation facility – work diligently to maintain infrastructure and provide high quality water services for the current 8,900 water customers and 4,900 sewer customers. Water infrastructure is critical in protecting the community’s health during the coronavirus pandemic, and valuing and investing in water systems provides a strong and thriving economy.
Managing water resources and infrastructure responsibly is critical to the economic, physical, and recreational health of all communities across the nation for generations to come, and being innovative and collaborative about water conservation and water reuse can establish a paradigm of water management in the United States that will drive job growth and economic vitality .
Therefore, the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana declare October 21, 2020 as, “Imagine a Day Without Water”, and take this opportunity to communicate the value of water by supporting the campaign for “Imagine a Day Without Water” which promotes water as essential to quality of life and economic competitiveness.
