Purpose and conditions for non-potable service
Use of non-potable water for landscaping can be more cost-effective and reduce demand on the Town’s potable water system.
Marana Water provides non-potable water service in limited areas and the Cortaro-Marana Irrigation District (“CMID”) also operates a non-potable system within the Town limits. In 2022, with the addition of Chapter 14-11 to its Town Code, Marana adopted conditions for non-potable service within the CMID service area.
Chapter 14-11, found here, outlines requirements for new development within the CMID service area. The CMID service area is identified here or in the map above.
CMID provides requirements for non-potable service on their website.
The Engineer determines if the proposed development is within Cortaro-Marana Irrigation District’s (CMID-CWUA) non-potable service area. If the project is within this area, the requirements of Chapter 14-11 of Title 14 of the Marana Town Code will apply. The Engineer shall determine the non-potable uses at the site using the Marana Non-Potable Worksheet. Please refer to the CMID website for requirements if non-potable water service is required for the proposed development as detailed in Chapter 14-11-4.
