Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department (RWRD) and its Design-Build Team, consisting of Borderland Construction, B&F Contracting, and Westland Resources have begun preliminary field surveys and data collection to support the design of seven miles of a new dual force main sewer system between the Continental Ranch Regional Pump Station (CRRPS) and the Tres Ríos Water Reclamation Facility (WRF).

As part of the initial design field activities, CobbFendley will be performing intermittent underground utility location investigations along the west bank of the Santa Cruz River between El Rio Preserve Park and Ina Road.  Bicyclist and pedestrians will see equipment, work crews and short-term traffic control during this design phase of investigative work.

  • Underground utility location (Potholing) will begin on November 16th, 2020 and occur from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day (Monday through Friday)

  • Initial potholing investigations are expected to be complete by mid-December 2020*

  • Bicyclists/pedestrians and Loop traffic should anticipate minor lane shifts and/or occasional temporary one-way lane closures when the potholing operations are near the Loop pathway

  • If/when needed, temporary traffic control devices will be placed to direct traffic around the work area

  • This work will not be completed in a sequential order

Sewer installation construction will not begin before early 2021

Emergency access will always be provided

*The above work schedule may be impacted by weather or mechanical failure

During the Underground Utility Location (Potholing) investigations, there will be large equipment and support vehicles entering and exiting the work area.

Loop Users should remain alert and use caution when passing near boring activities.
