Fatal Vehicle Rollover
Interstate 10 Frontage Rd/ Mile Post 233
On September 10th, 2024 at approximately 7:44 PM, the Marana Police Department and Northwest Fire District responded to a single vehicle rollover in the area of the Interstate 10 Frontage Rd. near Mile Post 233. The 16-year old driver of the silver 2004 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was airlifted to Banner UAMC Main Hospital with life-threatening injuries. There were 2 additional passengers involved who did not sustain serious injuries. Initial investigation revealed the Toyota Tacoma was traveling southeast along the Interstate Frontage Road near Mile Post 233. The pickup truck left the roadway and rolled down an embankment. No other vehicles were involved.
There was no indication of impairment at the time of the collision. The Marana Police Department Traffic Unit responded and continued the investigation.
The injured driver of the Toyota Tacoma remained in the hospital until September 15th when he passed away from the injuries sustained from this incident. Next of kin has been notified. The investigation is ongoing.
