The "Greetings from Marana" adventure journal wins the national Savvy Award for Printed Publication- Other

MARANA- The “Greetings from Marana” Adventure Journal is being recognized on a national stage.

The City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA) announced the 2024 winners of its national Savvy Awards Competition during a ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 5, where the Town of Marana Communications Division received the Savvy Award in the Publications-Other category.

“Very creative concept,” wrote the judges. “The content in the journal is clean, simple, modern, visually appealing, and is not overwhelming. Overall, a neat idea that seemed to be well received by the community!”

The Town of Marana’s Communications Division began working on this project in 2021 and officially released the adventure journal in 2023. The community-based spreads include events, outdoor recreation programs, arts and culture, food, and volunteering, with the goal of bringing awareness to the many services and attractions available in Marana.

Since its release, thousands of books have been distributed to the residents at Town festivals, the Marana Visitor Center, and the Marana Municipal Complex.

“We're excited to have tapped into a new audience with our community-specific guided journal, designed for those who love to explore, document, and engage with their surroundings in a creative way,” said Communications Manager Vic Hathaway. “This project reflects our commitment to offering innovative tools that resonate with all members of our community."

“I’m overwhelmed in a good way. ‘Geetings from Marana’ was designed to create a lasting connection with the community, and its success has far surpassed what we hoped for,” said Town of Marana Visual Communications Designer Hannah Shilling.

The book was written and designed in-house with the collaborative efforts of Communications, Parks & Recreation, Community & Neighborhood Services, and Discover Marana.

Whether you find fulfillment in events, outdoor recreation, arts and culture, food, or volunteering, this adventure journal will guide you through the many attractions this community has to offer. Pick up your FREE copy in the Marana Muncipal Complex lobby (located at 11555 W. Civic Center Drive), or stop by the Town of Marana booth at our major festivals. You can also print a digital version by visiting the “Greetings from Marana” adventure journal webpage.
