Town recognizes 21st Anniversary of 9/11

MARANA- The Mayor and Town Council are urging the community to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001 on the 21st anniversary of the attacks.

Mayor Ed Honea and Town Council have issued a proclamation declaring September 11, 2022 as National 21st Anniversary of September 11, 2001. In the proclamation, they encourage residents and houses of worship to toll their bells and observe the six moments of silence in remembrance and honor of the many people who died as well as honoring the first responders who bravely responded that day.

Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the attacks, the single largest loss of life from a foreign attack on American soil.

During a commemoration ceremony on September 11th, six moments of silence will be observed to acknowledge each time one of the World Trade Center towers was struck and fell, along with the attack on the Pentagon and the United Airlines Flight 93 crash. The first moment of silence is scheduled for 8:46 a.m.
