At approximately 8:25 a.m. on September 1, Marana Water Department responded to a report of a Sanitary Sewer Overflow on Rillito Village Trail, where an estimated 19,000 gallons of sewage were flowing out of a manhole and impacting the roadway.
Marana Water staff notified the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) immediately, and crews ensured that appropriate traffic safety measures were in place, including traffic pylons and signage.
The roadway and adjacent lot are currently undergoing the cleaning and disinfection process. Crews expect to reopen the roadways by 5 P.M. on Wednesday, September 1.
