ADOT: Overnight westbound I-10 lane restrictions near Ruthrauff Road

New westbound traffic configuration set to open early Aug. 5

Motorists on westbound I-10 should expect overnight lane restrictions near Ruthrauff Road in Tucson tonight (Wednesday, Aug. 4) for a traffic shift.

Westbound I-10 will be reduced to a single lane from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning while crews shift traffic onto the new, permanent westbound pavement. The temporary exit ramp to the westbound frontage road and Sunset Road will also close.

Three through-lanes on westbound I-10 are scheduled to open by the morning of Thursday, Aug. 5. In addition, the following ramps and frontage road segments are also scheduled to open:

  • Westbound I-10 exit ramp to Ruthrauff Road

  • Westbound I-10 exit ramp to Sunset Road

  • Westbound I-10 frontage road from Ruthrauff Road to Sunset Road

Note: The ramps and the frontage road will initially be restricted to a single lane.

The entrance ramp to westbound I-10 will remain closed. No changes will be made to eastbound I-10 or the eastbound I-10 frontage road. Both eastbound I-10 ramps will remain closed.

The I-10/Ruthrauff Road interchange project is currently on track for completion by the end of 2021. Additional sections of the interchange area will open over the coming weeks and months.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.

The interchange project is included in the Regional Transportation Authority's 20-year transportation plan. The Pima Association of Governments manages the RTA.
