MARANA - The Marana Town Council has appointed Terry Rozema as Interim Town Manager effective October 21. Rozema previously served as Town of Marana Police Chief and has served in that role since 2011.
Rozema replaces Jamsheed Mehta, whose resignation was accepted by Town Council on October 20.
Rozema is a 34-year veteran of the policing profession. He served nearly 24 years with the Tucson Police Department, finishing his career as an Assistant Chief. In January 2011, Rozema took helm as the Marana Police Chief with a mission of providing “unparalleled service and unwavering protection and to do so with uncompromised integrity” to the citizens of Marana.
Rozema holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Calvin College. He is also a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy and the Senior Management Institute for Police. He has been recognized for his service by way of various commendations and medals, to include; the Medal of Merit, Chief’s Citation of Excellence, Medal of Service, Distinguished Career Medal, and 2015 Marana Rotary Club Man of the Year. Rozema also received the Erik Hite Foundation First Responder Family of the Year Award in 2016 and the 2020 AZ Police Chief of the Year award. He serves on numerous boards and committees.
“Terry Rozema has already cultivated a well-earned reputation of trust and respect through his public safety leadership in the Marana community,” said Mayor Honea. “I am confident in his ability to lead our organization.”
The Council made no further decisions regarding the recruitment or hiring of a full-time Town Manager.
