Back-to-school traffic enforcement & education

Marana Police Officer James Riegert

MARANA- The Marana Police Department is hoping to raise awareness about school zone safety with its annual back-to-school traffic enforcement.

The department increased patrols in Marana Unified School District school zones during the first week back to class for students from August 5th through the 11th. The increased patrols were funded by a grant from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.

Although the GOHS deployment has ended, MPD traffic and Patrol Units will continue to enforce traffic laws in school zones for the remainder of the school year.
