Wayne Barnett, Deputy Director of the Marana Parks & Recreation Department, is now one of a dozen park and recreation professionals in the state to hold a national certification through the National Recreation and Park Association.
Barnett recently passed the Certified Parks and Recreation Executive (CPRE) exam to receive this certification. According to the NRPA, this is the highest level a park and recreation professional can reach.
The CPRE establishes a national standard for managerial, administrative and executive parks and recreation professionals. The NRPA says the mastery-level credential focuses on practical knowledge and current real-world skills necessary in today’s changing park and recreation environment.
Barnett is one of only two park and recreation leaders in Southern Arizona to become a Certified Park and Recreation Executive.
