Project update on the Moore Road and Tortolita Road Roundabout for July 8, 2022

UPDATE 9/15/2022: The roundabout at Moore Road and Tortolita Road has been open to the public for a little over three weeks now. It officially opened on August 23, 2022.

START DATE: 5/25/2022
END DATE: 8/5/2022

D.R. Horton will be doing construction on the roundabout located on Moore Road and Tortolita Road beginning May 25th until August 5th 2022. Construction will include curb staking, curb installation, subgrade prep, paving and striping.

Due to increased traffic from a new development north of Tortolita Road, it was determined there was a need for an improvement to the intersection. After an engineering analysis, a roundabout was selected as the best option.

The developer-driven roundabout will accommodate larger vehicles including an intermediate semi-sized trailer.

HOW TO DRIVE SAFELY IN A ROUNDABOUT
When entering a roundabout, drivers are required to look left and yield to any vehicles already in the roundabout or in the process of entering the roundabout. Sight visibility across the roundabout, unlike a four-way intersection, is not required to ensure safety. For more information, please visit: https://safety.fhwa.dot.gov/intersection/roundabouts/
For your safety and that of the contractor’s personnel, please comply with traffic control devices, flagging personnel, and/or detour signs.

Travel time through the project area may increase during construction so please adjust your schedule accordingly. Construction may restrict traffic lanes and create congestion. Taking alternate routes is suggested.

If inclement weather or other events cause delays, the work may be rescheduled without further notice.

This roundabout is a developer driven project, but it is designed to accommodate larger vehicles including semi-trailers.
