New Central Arizona Project (CAP) Trailhead Opening

The Town of Marana is committed to adding high-quality recreation amenities for our residents that provide an environment for them to stay healthy and enjoy our beautiful landscapes. On Saturday, May 15th, at 6:00 AM, the Town is pleased to announce that we will be opening our Central Arizona Project (CAP) Trailhead located off of the new Adonis Road, approximately a quarter-mile north of Tangerine Road. This trailhead will be the gateway to the CAP trail system that runs north from Marana 17 miles into Pinal County.

Parks and Recreation staff will be on-site this Saturday between 6:00 AM – 9:30 AM to provide information and answer any questions that our trail riders may have concerning this new trail system. This trailhead was also designed and constructed to accommodate trucks and trailers for our equestrian trail users. This trail system will also be very popular with both mountain bike and gravel bike trail enthusiasts.

The CAP Trail is a beautiful trail that follows the CAP canal’s elevated maintenance road. While it is a non-technical dirt road, the maintenance road is elevated and gives fantastic 360-degree views of the surrounding area. The trail is complete from this CAP Trailhead off of Adonis Road north to the Pinal County line and beyond, offering an excellent opportunity for a ride up to 30+ miles.

This project is the result of an excellent partnership between the Town of Marana, Pima County, CAP, and the Bureau of Reclamation staff to develop the CAP Trail and associated CAP Trailhead on Adonis Road. Come out and enjoy the trail!
