Avoid the crowds at 13 Early Voting Sites

The Pima County Recorder’s Office makes it easy to vote even before the Arizona Primary Election Day on Tuesday, August 4. Over 115,000 voters have returned their ballots by mail. Voters who received ballots in the mail should return their ballots as soon as possible. The Pima County Recorder recommends mailing ballots by Wednesday, July 29, so the ballots will be received by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. “According to Arizona statute, we must have ballots in hand by the time the polls close on Election Day,” says Pima County Recorder F. Ann Rodriguez.

Some voters might be concerned about long lines at polling places in other states. Fortunately in Pima County, voters don’t need to wait until Election Day to vote. There are 13 Early Voting Sites, including the three Recorder’s Offices. Voters must bring appropriate identification in order to vote (see page 3 of this press release). Voting booths are set up at all Early Voting Sites.

All early voting sites and that the sites will follow Centers for Disease Control guidelines for social distancing and disinfecting procedures.

Located throughout the County, Early Voting Sites are open Monday, July 27 through Monday, August 3, with some offering evening voting until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The complete list of locations and hours of operation is here: www.recorder.pima.gov/EarlyVotingSites

Early Voting Sites transform into Emergency Voting Sites on Saturday, August 1, and Monday, August 3. To vote on those days, voters will sign a form indicating they have an emergency and will be Vote Early Press Release July 23, 2020 Page 2 unable to vote on Tuesday, August 4. Voters do not need to explain the emergency, only that they have an emergency and need to vote on Saturday or Monday instead of Tuesday. Voters may also return their mailed ballots in person at any Early Voting Site with curbside ballot drop-off available. Voters returning mailed ballots do not need to show identification.
