It has been over three months since I declared a State of Local Emergency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and much has happened since then. Policy changes on all levels of government have helped to fight this disease, ranging from federal financial aid for families, to modified Town codes to help businesses operate safely under new health regulations. The Town of Marana encourages everyone to follow the health and wellness practices recommended by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), which includes social distancing, wearing face coverings, and washing hands.
On June 19, the Pima County Board of Supervisors enacted a countywide public health protection resolution requiring the wearing of face coverings when in public if 6 feet of physical distancing cannot be maintained. This resolution is to be administered by the Pima County Public Health Department, which regulates all public health matters in Pima County, including within the Town of Marana.
What does that mean for Town residents? It means constant vigilance will help combat COVID-19. We all have a part to play in keeping our community safe, and that means holding ourselves accountable for our own actions. Please wear a mask when in public.
