Water Reclamation
Since 2012, Marana Water has been operating a water reclamation, or sanitary sewer, system in the North Marana and the Saguaro Bloom neighborhood. This division provides design, management, and operations and maintenance of over 48 miles of sewer conveyance, and two water reclamation facilities.
Sewer Cleaning & TV Inspection Program
As part of a preventive maintenance program to keep the sewer system operating properly, Marana Water cleans and televises the system annually. This program will help prevent any sanitary sewer overflows (SSO), and any damage from an SSO, by removing dirt, grease, and other debris from the system. It will also allow the department to plan for future maintenance and replacement.
How It Works
To clean the system, a high pressure water jet is pulled through the sewer main cleaning the inside of the pipes. Grit, grease, and other debris is flushed to a downstream manhole where it is removed. Once the cleaning is complete, a cable mounted camera is run through the sewer to document the condition of the pipe.
What to Expect
When sewer cleaning occurs in your area you can expect Marana Water, and its contractor, to be working around manholes in the streets and easements. Crews will do everything possible to minimize disturbances. Routine work will occur during the day, which could cause some partial traffic disruptions in some areas. On occasion, air or water might come up through the toilets or drains in your home. Please contact our office at (520) 382-2570 with any additional questions.
