MARANA — Marana Parks & Recreation’s Natural Resource team partnered with Marana Water and Arizona Master Naturalists to present the inaugural El Rio Preserve Outdoor Classroom on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. Over fifty 3rd-grade-students from MUSD’s Ironwood Elementary School enjoyed a field trip to El Rio Preserve to learn about the History of El Rio Preserve. They toured five separate learning stations to learn about water sustainability and conservation, birds , plants, and petaroglyphs.
The program featured guests Dave DeGroot from Arizona Master Naturalists, who presented at the petroglyph station, and Mary Grodman from Friends of El Rio Preserve who spoke on native and invasive plant species at El Rio Preserve.
