Marana celebrates state award with public & private sector partners

MARANA- The Town of Marana Parks & Recreation Department is recognizing its key partners in a project that recently won a State Partnership Award from the Arizona Parks & Recreation Association.

The project is an example of the private sector teaming up with local government to improve a portion of the nationally renowned Chuck Huckelberry Loop recreational trail.

Amazon worked with Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation, Pima County Flood Control District and the Town of Marana to dramatically improve this section of the path and it is a great example of public and private sectors working together to create an outstanding public space.  This section of the Loop trail serves over 140,000 path-users annually.

This pathway was built along the west side of the Santa Cruz River out of the flood zone and adjacent to the new Amazon Distribution Center. It opened in February of this year between Ina and Cortaro Roads.

On November 13, 2023, Marana Parks & Recreation presented its partners with the APRA Outstanding Partnership Award.
