This is part of a series of traffic alerts and project updates that will be issued throughout the construction of the Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department’s Twin Peaks-Blue Bonnet Road Gravity Sewer Project. These alerts will announce construction, detours and street closure information as it affects traffic. Please watch for updated traffic alerts as construction activities progress.
Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department (RWRD) and its contractor, Achen Gardner, have completed the installation of the 15-inch sewer interceptor line along Hartman Lane, from Linda Vista Boulevard to Cortaro Farms Road.
The Team wishes to thank the residents and the traveling public for their patience and support while improvements to the sewer system were completed.
The contractor is currently working along the east side of Twin Peaks Road on the final phase of the project, which includes installation of a new 15-inch diameter sewer interceptor line and 22 manholes from Blue Bonnet Road north to Tangerine Road.
The contractor has completed a jack and bore operation (drilled an underground, horizontal hole without disturbing the surface roadway) at the intersection of Twin Peaks/Dove Mountain and Tangerine Road. Additionally, the 30-foot sewer easement is located outside of the heavily travelled Twin Peaks Road travel lanes ensuring that this portion of the project will have minimal impact to the traveling public.
In honor of Thanksgiving, there will be no construction related activities Thursday, November 27 through Sunday, December 1, 2019. Regular construction will resume on Monday, December 2, 2019.
DON’T FORGET Pima County’s Grease Collection Recycling Event (Cooking Grease Only)
Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) from your kitchen should never be poured down your drain. Instead, store it in a can and bring to our 15th Annual Grease Collection and Recycling Event on January 4, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
FOG adheres to the inside of pipes within the sewer system and over time will clog sewer lines completely. Wastewater travels to water reclamation facilities using gravity and is unable to flow through the pipes. These blockages can result in a Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO). An SSO is the backup of raw sewage into the street, the environment, or even into your house or business through sinks, tubs, showers, or toilets.
