MARANA- The Town of Marana is preparing to celebrate ten years as a “Purple Heart Town” as the nation recognizes National Purple Heart Day this month.

Purple Heart Day is dedicated to honoring and remembering the men and women who were wounded or killed while serving our country. It was first observed in 2014 and Marana was among the first in Arizona to receive the Purple Heart Town designation in December of that same year.

Mayor Honea and the Town of Marana have proclaimed August 7, 2024 as “National Purple Heart Day” in Marana.

All community members are encouraged to pay tribute to our nation’s heroes who were injured or killed in combat.
