Marana Water begins Meter Replacement Program

Eye on Water data

MARANA- Marana Water is launching its Meter Replacement Program, which will replace aging meters with ‘smart’ Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) technology.

Customers should expect to see program partner KE&G in their neighborhoods beginning the second week of March 2025. The meters will then be replaced throughout the next several months in Marana Waters’ service area. The program will continue for at least two years.

The new meter technology will allow customers online access to review their water usage. Customers will also be able to pinpoint specific times of high use, receive leak notifications, or recognize other areas for water conservation. An information packet will be left at the impacted properties detailing the options available to customers. 48 hours after the meter has been replaced, www.eyeonwater.com will be available displaying detailed meter data.

Funding for the program was provided, in part, by the Water Infrastructure Finance Authority (WIFA) of Arizona. Questions? Reach out to the Marana Water team at (520) 382-2570.

What is AMI? AMI is a two-way communication to collect meter information in real time.

What can AMI do for me? This technology allows the customer to have more hands-on experience monitoring water usage at their property. It helps promote conservation and can alert you sooner to a potential leak.

Are there other ways to conserve water? Yes, simple updates to the home could help reduce water waste.

  • Upgrading the toilets in the home to a low flow toilet will reduce the amount of water going down the drain.
  • Upgrading Irrigation Controller (Timers) to Smart Irrigation Controllers using weather-based technology
  • Xeri-Scape landscaping utilizing desert friendly plants that need little watering.
