W. Ina Rd/ N. Thornydale Rd, North of
On March 8th, 2025, at approximately 7:14PM, officers from the Marana Police Department and members from the Northwest Fire District responded to West Ina Road and North Thornydale Road for a report of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. The driver of the involved vehicle remained on-scene and was not injured. The Marana Police Department Traffic Unit responded to continue the investigation.
Investigators determined the pedestrian was in the roadway in the southbound lanes of North Thornydale Road, just north of West Ina Road, when he was struck by a southbound 2005 Lincoln Navigator. The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk. The pedestrian, identified as 66 year-old Robert Penland, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Speed and impairment are not believed to be factors, and no charges have been filed at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
