TRAFFIC ALERT: Twin Peaks, Rattlesnake Pass Widening Project

START DATE: July 2024
END DATE: August 2026

Hunter Contracting, under contract with the Town of Marana's Department of Public Works, is scheduled to begin construction on the Twin Peaks Road, Rattlesnake Pass widening project. Construction is scheduled to take place from July 2024 through August 2026.

The project limits extend along Twin Peaks Road from its intersection at Silverbell Road, through Rattlesnake Pass and then westward to Quarry Road (Cement Plant Road). When complete, the project will provide 2 miles of 29-foot dual lane roadways for both east and westbound travel.

The contractor plans to complete the project in four phases:

  • Phase 1 - Quarry Road to the east end of White Stallion Ranch Road (approximately 14 months)
  • Phase 2 - The intersection of Twin Peaks Road/Silverbell Road and north along the Silverbell spur (approximately 4 months)
  • Phase 3 - Full closure of Rattlesnake Pass from White Stallion Ranch Road to Silverbell spur (approximately 3 months)
  • Phase 4 - closure of about 100-feet of the westbound lanes of Silverbell Road just north of the Twin Peaks/Silverbell Road intersection (approximately 2-months)

When construction begins, traffic will be shifted to a temporary paved detour which will be constructed along the south side of Twin Peaks Road. The detour will remain in place while the contractor completes improvements along the north side of Twin Peaks Road. Access to side streets and residential properties will be maintained. Watch for message boards in advance of traffic changes or closures

  • New traffic signal at Twin Peaks/Saguaro Peaks intersection
