Marana celebrates Tree City USA Growth Award on Arbor Day

Published on April 29, 2024

Marana - The Town of Marana Parks & Recreation Department recently celebrated our 9th Arbor Day by planting 15 new trees at Crossroads at Silverbell District Park.

On Friday, April 26, 2024, staff and community volunteers planted trees in sparse areas around the dog park as well as the playground area.

"Arbor Day celebrates the preservation of planting trees and we are planting 15 trees so this day is very important. The program of reforesting is very important, "said Parks Maintenance Superintendent Dominic Rullo.

"Trees just give so much back to the community. It's always fantastic," said Parks Project Specialist Dave Herman.

The Town of Marana is an official Tree City USA designated by the Arbor Day Foundation. The Town also received a Growth Award this year due to adding another arborist certification.

"We continue education on trees and that is very important to encourage staff to further their education," said Rullo.

We would like to thank our Parks Maintenance crew for their hard work, our Special Events team for bringing it all together and Al Gusto Coffee Company for providing the complimentary coffee and pastries.
