MPD Detective and Volunteer to receive Unsung Heroes Award

MARANA- A Marana Police Volunteer and Detective are being honored for going beyond the call of duty through their work as chaplains to help those in need throughout the region.

Volunteer Angel Gonzales and Marana Police Detective Tim Fane are this year's recipients of the Southern Arizona Law Enforcement Foundation's Unsung Heroes award.

Detective Tim Fane has been with the Marana Police Department for 17 years. He became an official Chaplain in 2013. Chaplain Angel Gonzales was hired by MPD in 2022 as a Customer Service Representative at the front desk. He is also an ordained Catholic Deacon in the Tucson Diocese. Gonzales is now transitioning to an MPD Volunteer role.

Detective Fane and Gonzales have made significant contributions to the Marana Police Department and community through their response to critical incidents by providing spiritual wellness and support for those in need including police officers, support staff and community members.

Detective Fane and Volunteer Gonzales will be formally recognized and awarded at the upcoming SALEF Unsung Heroes dinner on August 10, 2023.
