Civil Traffic Violations

If you are charged with a civil traffic violation, you may do the following:

Pay the Fine(s)

You may pay on or before the court date listed on your complaint. The court is open to accepting payments in person between the hours of 8 A.M. - 4:30 P.M., Monday - Friday, excluding Town of Marana observed holidays.

A $40 fee will be assessed to each citation per Marana Town Ordinance 5-6-1B(4).  If you pay your fine after your court date, or in monthly installments we must add a one-time $20 time payment fee per ARS §12-116.  Click on the fine information button below for fine amounts and additional information about your civil traffic violation(s).  For information about payment options click on the payment options button below.

Contest the Ticket

You may request a hearing to contest the charge(s) on your complaint by clicking here to complete and submit a civil traffic hearing request. You will be provided with the date and time of your hearing by mail or email depending on what you indicate is your preference. You must appear on that date and time to contest your ticket or judgment will automatically be entered against you. You may request to appear virtually or by phone if you cannot come to court in-person.

Attend Defensive Driving School

Visit www.azdrive.com for eligibility, criteria, and to register to attend a defensive driving class. You must enroll and complete a defensive driving class seven (7) days prior to your court date.

Failure to Resolve Citation by Court Date

Failure to appear or otherwise resolve your citation by the appearance date on a Civil Traffic Complaint will result in a default judgment being entered against you. A civil fine amount will be imposed (the amount listed on the Bond Card(PDF, 246KB)), plus an additional $125.00 in court fees, pursuant to ARS 12-116, and Town Ordinances 5-6-1 (B)(4) and 5-6-1(A)(1). The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) will be notified and your vehicle registration may be suspended.

Failure to appear on the appearance date for a Criminal Traffic Complaint will result in an arrest warrant being issued and your license may be suspended.

Bicycle Diversion

If you were cited by the Marana Police Department for a civil traffic violation(s) while operating a bicycle, you may be eligible to attend the Pima County Bicycle Diversion Program.

A cyclist is eligible for this diversion program only once each year, calculated from violation date to violation date. You must complete the class prior to your court date. If necessary, contact the Court for an extension to attend the class. You must send a copy of your completion to the court before your court date and the violation will be dismissed.

If you are interested in attending this class, contact EZAZ Traffic School at (520)207-3200 or go to www.ezazbikeped.com prior to the court date listed on your ticket.

Note: If you are charged with a criminal traffic, criminal, or petty offense, you must appear before a judge at the date and time listed on your complaint. Failure to appear will result in a warrant for your arrest being issued and your driving privileges may be suspended.
