Agenda

The consent agenda contains items requiring action by the Council that are generally routine items not requiring discussion. A single motion and affirmative majority vote will approve all items on the consent agenda, including resolutions or ordinances. Prior to a motion to approve the consent agenda, any council member may remove any item from the consent agenda and that item will be discussed and voted upon separately.

Access agendas and minutes from previous or upcoming meetings.

Resolutions

Resolutions represent formal council action and generally become effective immediately upon adoption.

Ordinances

Ordinances are legislation, laws, or regulations adopted by the Town Council. Ordinances generally become effective 30 days after adoption, unless an emergency is declared.

Access ordinances recently passed by the Town Council.

Citizen Participation

Time is allotted during a Call to the Public for members of the public to address the town council regarding any issue within the jurisdiction of the Town Council, except for items scheduled for a Public Hearing at the same meeting. Members of the public may address the Council regarding items scheduled for a Public Hearing when the Mayor declares that the Public Hearing has been opened and solicits public comment. To ensure that meetings run efficiently, speakers must complete a Speaker Card and submit it to the Town Clerk prior to the start of the meeting.

Once the Mayor has opened Call to the Public or the Public Hearing, he/she will invite those who have submitted a card to spea. Upon reaching the podium, speakers must state their full name and address. During Call to the Public, speakers have three minutes. During Public Hearings, speakers generally have five minutes, unless otherwise designated by the Council.

Town Council meeting recordings are available by submitting a public records request to the Town Clerk's office.

The Town Manager and staff provide reports any other information to be considered in Town Council decisions. The Town Manager also advises the Town Council on policy matters.

The Town Clerk records the minutes of the meeting and maintains files and records of such meetings and actions taken by the Town Council. Minutes are posted on the Town's website.

The Town Attorney provides legal advice to the Town Council.

Executive Sessions

Pursuant to state law, the Town Council may vote to go into Executive Session, which will not be open to the public, to discuss certain matters such as specific personnel issues, real estate negotiations, or litigation.
